Horror in Charlottesville

On Saturday, August 12, 2017 Heather Meyer was killed as a result of a car driven by a far right extremist in Charlottesville, Virginia during a gathering of far right extremists from all over the country. The suspect is now in police custody. It is terrible that a human being has been killed apparently as a direct result of racist extremism. We must always stand against hatred including the horror that is neo-Nazism.

As far as I can tell neither PCG or LCG have bothered to comment about this terrible atrocity.

  1. Though I haven't scanned the other COG websites, I noticed Bob Thiel posted something. Following a copy of a news release, and a call for punishment, Bob went into "told ya" mode and quoted a prediction he made about protests.

  2. There are times when I fear that we are watching the ascent of our own version of Hitler. It's surprising how many people support this radical departure from what our country has always stood for.

On the other hand, I understand how some of the people who are generationally rooted in the South revere their traditions. What would be wrong with having many of these monuments in museums, where being confronted with them was voluntary?

  3. Yes, in a museum. Not a theme park...
