So it was January 16th, and because PCG has this superstition that ominous events of a "prophetic" nature are more likely on January 16th because it is the anniversary of HWA's death in 1986 (Why don't they use "God's Sacred Calendar"?), PCG's writers released an article to commemorate the anniversary of his death. On that day PCG released an article by Stephen Flurry, The Legacy of Herbert W. Armstrong.
So I started reading. Then I quickly stopped because I suddenly realized I had already read this article before. It is a re-release of an article released in the February 2002 issue of The Philadelphia Trumpet. I had discussed that article previously here and here.
One amusing thing about the article is that it quotes what seven men said about HWA in order to portray him as a great man but none of these seven men are in PCG. They are filthy, blinded and lying Laodiceans if PCG's dogma is to be believed. So why cite their testimony to "prove" that HWA was a great man?
Why is commemorating one's death is allowed but birthdays are forbidden by PCG's leaders?
L. Ron Hubbard died the same week not too many miles away.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not to far from Martin Luther King, Jr Day.
I think the most significant thing for us and one reason why we might celebrate is that Herbert Armstrong is dead. I know, I know, it doesn't seem like it, but he's really like dead, man.
Yes. He's dead. And so is his little empire, so why bother about him anymore and continue to follow him as one thinks has to be done?
ReplyDeleteSo many others have moved on. If only a few more could work out that is what they need to do.
