Since this is not a sports blog but inspired by socio-religious-political events, perhaps I am allowed the observation that the assessment of MA was not always so.
An outspoken "negro". A conscientious objector to "Nam." A Christian converting to Islam.
It seems to me that only if a person is truly genuinely true to oneself one is able to command the respect of the masses and be forgiven for all (perceived) trespasses.
Another observation is that when I see all them (white) folk weeping during events such as these it is that we are weeping for our own youth that has passed like the wind.
A related feeling is like cuddling up watching a sunday movie with Doris Day, only to find out days later in a documentary that she is still alive and kicking in California.
