Time Magazine and 'Christian Identity'

Here's an article from Time magazine concerning our embarrassing racist cousins, so-called 'Christian Identity.'

It even mentions us!

The COGs are intellectually related to 'Christian Identity' by their common use of the historically and genetically inaccurate doctrine of British Israelism.

  1. Redfox, you wrote that you'd love to know where you were lying. I laid it out for you. The majority who read this blog will know that you were lying and will be glad to see your response.

Here it is again (slightly edited for brevity)
We would be glad to read your honest response.

"Redfox, you wrote in your email to the Kenyan magazine,

"Members are required to give three tithes to LCG. This is a tremendous financial burden imposed upon all members." Two sentences, two lies.

Firstly, no member is required to pay three tithes to LCG. You know this very well. To say this is required of members is a lie.

Secondly, even one tithe is not imposed upon all members. A member on an unearned social welfare benefit, for instance, is not required to tithe at all.

You wrote, "LCG cleverly hides this from potential converts. They do not mention Second or Third Tithes in any of their tithing booklets." Another lie.

The booklet containing Lesson 17 "Tithing - God's Financial Plan for You" of LCG's Bible Study Course devotes a whole page to explaining all three tithes. The opportunity to enrol in the Bible Study Course is offered in every issue of the Tomorrow's World magazine. It is not hidden at all.

Now, I am sure, you will resort to weasel-words to explain away these lies. Your sycophants will lend you support. I hope you will have the courage to say, "I was wrong" and correct your email to the Kenyan magazine. To expect you to say to us, "Yes, indeed, I did lie...." Well, no one is holding their breath."

  2. First of all, Paris, let me say I am sorry for not responding to you earlier. This blog post was scheduled earlier. And now without further ado here is my response...

"Redfox, you wrote in your email to the Kenyan magazine,

"Members are required to give three tithes to LCG. This is a tremendous financial burden imposed upon all members." Two sentences, two lies.

"Firstly, no member is required to pay three tithes to LCG. You know this very well. To say this is required of members is a lie."

LCG members are taught not to sin, and that not tithing is stealing from God, theefore not tithing is sin which must be avoided, therefore you must pay tithes. As far as I am concerned LCG members are required to pay the three tithes.

"Secondly, even one tithe is not imposed upon all members. A member on an unearned social welfare benefit, for instance, is not required to tithe at all."

Such persons are exceptions to the rule, and the rule is pay three tithes. Therefore it is proper to say members are required to pay them even though some are exempt. They are exceptions to the rule.

"You wrote, "LCG cleverly hides this from potential converts. They do not mention Second or Third Tithes in any of their tithing booklets." Another lie.

When I said tithing booklets I was referring to the two LCG booklets on their website, God’s People Tithe! and their articles on tithing in Tomorrow‘s World (March-April, 2001) and (November-December, 2006). If you look at those no mention is made of second and third tithe.

Lesson 17 is only given after a potential recruit has gone through 3 sets of Bible Study lessons. Such a person will either give up on LCG for their unorthodox doctrines (anti-trinitarianism, etc.) or be so utterly entranced with them by being convinced and bedazzled by their many other doctrines (Biblical literalism, God Family, British Israelism, etc.) that they will believe that LCG is ‘God’s work’ and will simply accept this teaching because other doctrines have been used to convince them that they are ‘God’s church.’

That is how LCG hides second and third tithes from potential converts. They seek to convince that unsuspecting reader that LCG is ‘God’s True Church’ and once he/she has been persuaded of that (which they hopefully have been after going through the first 3 sets of Bible Study lessons) then they are told about second and third tithes. When an unsuspecting reader becomes convinced that LCG is the true church he/she does not know the requirement of second and third tithes.

That is dishonesty which is committed by the LCG organization.

I have never intentionally said something that was untrue with the purpose of deceiving people. These criticisms are mainly focused on knit picking my words but they do not change the substance of my assertions.

Therefore I do not feel that these criticisms stand up to scrutiny.

  3. Actually, I think it's not me who's doing the knit(sic) picking. :)
