Another Failed Prophecy from the Late Roderick C. Meredith (2003)

Yet another false prophecy brought to us by the late Roderick C. Meredith. This one was written in 2003 during the second intifada of 2000-5.
Yasser Arafat and the Palestinians are capitalizing on recent events to intensify their anti-Israeli and anti-American propaganda campaign. Watch for Israel to come increasingly under pressure and for Jerusalem to be brought under some kind of international control, probably involving, in some way, the Roman Catholic Church and the European powers. (Roderick C. Meredith, Prophecy is Speeding Forward, Tomorrow's World, July-August 2003, p. 6.)
What actually happened was that Yasser Arafat passed away in 2004 and the State of Israel overcame the insurgency. It ended in 2005. Fourteen years later the State of Israel is still firmly in control of all of Jerusalem even though the international community only recognizes the State of Israel's right to rule the land it controlled before the 1967 war. And even with the recent peace efforts are being propelled by the United States rather than "the European powers."

This prophecy failed. There is no need to fear their dire proclamations. They cannot see the future. They are but false prophets.

  1. The significance in wcg interpretation of prophesy does indeed not lie in their understanding of biblical eisegeses.

For professionals it was worthwile study material at one time. For instance European Unification did come to pass way before anyone thought it possible because they were reading the right policy papers.

I nearly got suspended by my shouting history teacher for claiming that Eastern Germany would unite with West Germany. Even my teachers were not up to date with the legal reality of the imposed occupation of that territory. WCG had a keen eye for that.

Also you should not dismiss the fact that the legal status of East Jerusalem is occupied territory and the legal status of Jerusalem is a planned "international city". This is in the UN policy papers. Whenever the political situation arises to implement the true legal blueprint of such territory the information pertaining to this "inside" knowledge would have been correctly sifted and interpreted.

Summarizing. Most of wcg prophesies are extensions of legal realities and un and us foreign policy put on the shelves until the right momentum appears.

So this "prophecy" WILL occur I am a 100% sure.

  2. United Nations General Assembly resolution 181 (II), passed on November 29, 1947, provided for the full territorial internationalisation of Jerusalem: "The City of Jerusalem shall be established as a corpus separatum under a special international regime and shall be administered by the United Nations."[28]

  3. The European Union currently views the status of Jerusalem as that of a corpus separatum including both East and West Jerusalem as outlined in United Nations Resolution 181.[26][43][44]

The United States views as desirable the establishing of an international regime for the city.[56] Its final status must be resolved through negotiations[57] and it does not recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.[58]

United States policy on Jerusalem refers specifically to the geographic boundaries of the "City of Jerusalem" based on the UN's corpus separatum proposal. De jure, Jerusalem is part of the Palestine Mandate and has not been under sovereignty of any country since.[59][60][61]

I am not quite sure what you mean.

Do you mean that the will of the international community regarding Jerusalem should be sanctioned by both the Israeli and the Palestinian people.

The consent of all parties could arise one day just like the occupation of Berlin was doomed when the both the peoples of East and West Germany petitioned the occupying forces in 1989 through their powerful and peaceful expression of the will of the people.

Or perhaps how Washington DC was created to not offend any particular state too much?

Another point is the definition of Jerusalem. And the definition of control or sovereignty. The city has grown substantially since 1948. There is the old city. West Jerusalem with the Knesset. East Jerusalem which has grown into a substantial city also in the past 25 years.
