Arutz Sheva in PCG's Trumpet Weekly

Previously it was seen how PCG, UCG and LCG have all used an Israeli news outlet named Arutz Sheva (also known as Israel National News) in some of their articles. None of them have ever bothered to note that this outlet caters for national religious Israeli Jews or note to their readers some of the opinions expressed in it that might give their readers wonder why PCG, UCG and LCG should happen to trust this news source.

This outlet has published articles that, among other things, say that American Jews are on the path to oblivion for not supporting the State of Israel enough, sarcastically wish Abu Bakr al Baghdadi's lackeys would conquer the Palestinians, religiously blackmailing American Jews to move to Israel, that the US State Department is Israel's " foremost enemy", etc.

Also historically Arutz Sheva had a radio station that would not broadcast women singing for religious reasons. What would the female singers in the COGs think of that?

This outlet even published a racist cartoon that portrayed President Obama as a shoe shiner.

Why do PCG, UCG and LCG trust a media outlet such as this?

One is not given any sign of these tendencies the way it is quoted by PCG, UCG and LCG. COG members deserve to know what this publication is actually like.

In further seeing how PCG often relies on Arutz Sheva here is a list of 52 articles from PCG's Trumpet Weekly which come from Arutz Sheva. They have been quoted since the very first issue of PCG's Trumpet Weekly. And if anything they seem to be quoting them more often at the moment.

It is also seen how Arutz Sheva's article titles are sometimes changed. For instance several times titles are altered to reflect PCG's shameful editorial policy of referring to Abu Bakr al Baghdadi's lackeys in Iraq and Syria as "the Islamic State". Those terrorists want to be called that. Why give them what they want?

Here are the titles altered to give Abu Bakr al Baghdadi's lackeys what they want and call those blood thirsty terrorists "the Islamic State".
  • Islamic State Joining Gaza Terror War on Israel (PCG version, August 16, 2014 issue.)
  • IS Actively Joining Gaza Terror War on Israel (Original version.)
  • Iran: The Islamic State Diverts Muslims From Palestine (PCG version, November 29, 2014 issue.)
  • Iran’s Khamenei: ISIS Diverts Muslims from Palestine (Original version.)
It is morally wrong that PCG's writers should give those power hungry terrorists what they want, even in something like this.

Notes from PCG's Trumpet Weekly (Various Quotes of Interest)

Previously I had explored the issues of PCG's Trumpet Weekly in previous posts (2007-8, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014).

Here are some articles of PCG's Trumpet Weekly that recently caught my attention.

July 31 2010: Quotes Robert Spencer, a main pillar of the Islamophobia Network.

October 29, 2011: Quotes Jihad Watch, a part of the Islamophobia Network.

December 10, 2011: Robert Morley condemns big banks. Unusual attempt to sound vaguely left wing. They tend to advance other explanations for the global financial crisis.

November 12, 2011: Quotes Counterpunch, a left wing publication. PCG leans far to the right in regards to politics. But even so such sources are (rarely) quoted sometimes. This is one such occasion.

January 21, 2012: Discusses Area C in the West Bank.

March 24, 2012: Mention of clashes in Gaza.

April 7, 2012: Contains picture of German led Europe advancing towards the Holy Land. Quotes Clarion Fund, a part of the Islamophobia Network.

May 26, 2012: It is stated that Gerald Flurry said that Asia and Europe will destroy America. (Brad MacDonald's article.)

August 25, 2012: Cites report of "Satanic ritual abuse" in Britain. Although it is now generally accepted that the previous moral scare about such things in the 1980s was essentially baseless nevertheless the PCG leadership presents this inflammatory rumor to their readers in this 2012 issue. Historically this accusation has caused many innocent persons to be falsely accused and imprisoned for false accusations. How dare PCG presents this tainted idea.

September 1, 2012: "Iran Shuns Hamas". A recent Trumpet Daily episode claimed that Hamas was moving away from Iran and claimed this somehow fulfilled biblical prophecy. This articles exposes the fact that they have been saying the same thing for nearly three years now. At the least.

January 5, 2013: "Glenn Back Tried to Buy Current TV".

August 17, 2013: Quotes Betsy McCaughey, a major opponent of health care reform.

August 24, 2013: Al Jazeera America begins. The PCG leadership has a history of hostility towards Al Jazeera.

September 7, 2013: Quotes Think Progress, a left wing blog. PCG leans far to the right in regards to politics. But even so such sources are (rarely) quoted sometimes. This is one such occasion.

November 9, 2013: Robert Morley discusses LAX Shooting.

April 12, 2014: Quotes one who insists the futures market will collapse within twelve months. April 2015 came and went without incident.

November 8, 2014: Quotes Christian Post. PCG often condemn Protestant Christians as being false Christians or worshipping on Sunday and other such things Armstrongites disagree with. But the PCG leadership will still quote a media source that caters for evangelical Christians in their publication such as this issue.

February 28, 2015: Quotes The Nation. PCG leans far to the right in regards to politics. But even so such sources are (rarely) quoted sometimes. This is one such occasion.

PCG Discussing the 2014 War in Gaza

A year ago war raged between the State of Israel and Hamas led Gaza. Let us take a look at how PCG presented this deadly conflict to their readers and viewers.

PCG teaches the doctrine of British Israelism and teach that white Americans are descended from the biblical Israelites. This leads to the conclusion that white Americans are the brothers and sisters of the Jews. This causes PCG members to view Jews as members of the white race. PCG has projected their own whiteness upon the Jews. The Jews did not ask that of PCG. This is an idea PCG imposes upon Jews without the Jews' permission.

But the dogma of British Israelism is untrue. In fact DNA evidence refutes British Israelism. As Silenced.co has shown it is built on a foundation of sand.

Therefore PCG steals the distinctive cultural identity of the Jewish people for themselves. (This is also true of the other COGs.) Those who say they are Israelites when they are not are stealing the cultural identity of the Jewish people. British Israelism is theft. British Israelism violates the commandment, "Thou shalt not steal".

Sad to say PCG supports the State of Israel for the same reason they banned interracial marriage: to advance white supremacy. Oh what folly British Israelism sprouts.

Consequently PCG presents this war in a very simplistic black and white manner. One side is good, namely the State of Israel which PCG view as part of the white race. One side is bad, namely the Palestinians who are viewed as "not white" by PCG because of British Israelism. There is no attempt by PCG's writers to deviate from this simple script.

(I only use this argument here to focus on PCG. The vast majority of those who support the State of Israel do not believe the nonsense of British Israelism.)

It is also notable that the war was exploited to advance various views that PCG often state regarding other matters. One article exploits tensions resulting from the war to fear monger about immigrants. Another article insinuates Germany will take over the United States' role as mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One article even insinuates in a most sickeningly alarmist manner that "another Holocaust may be starting."

The following is a list of articles made by PCG's leadership discussing last year's war. Many of the article discuss not the war itself but the demonstrations that occurred because of the war.

*******
The events he is referring to are the growing number of anti-Jew protests taking place around the world. Since Israel began Operation Protective Edge in Gaza to destroy Hamas terror tunnels into Israel, protests demonizing Israel have been staged throughout Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia and elsewhere. These protests generally feature chanting anti-Semitic slogans, burning Israeli flags, and even trying to incite violence against Jews and Jewish property. In several protests, Jews have been assaulted. (Tyrel Schlote, Jews Fear Another Holocaust Is Starting in Europe, July 29, 2014.)
And did another Holocaust start in Europe last year? Of course not.
On Monday, the Israeli Knesset held an emergency meeting, not about Israel’s military operation in Gaza or about a political crisis in the Israeli government, but about the “rising wave of violent anti-Semitic and anti-Israel demonstrations sweeping Europe.” (The Anti-Jewish Surge: No Big Deal—Right?, The Trumpet Daily, July 31, 2014.)

The current war in Gaza may appear to be like any other recent war Israel has fought against its Arab neighbors. Most headlines report with the typical slant: Palestinians good, Israelis evil. The casual observer sees that as normal; people around the world are taking to the streets to protest Israel’s “crimes.” But underneath the mountain of shallow reporting, the true facts show this is not just another Arab-Israeli war.
As of August 2, 63 Israeli soldiers had been killed, along with 1,650 Gazans, making it Israel’s deadliest war since 2008. The Trumpet has reported on the unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism around the world and the violent protests taking place in many nations. It has gotten so bad that leading Jews are fearful that another Holocaust may be starting. (Israel Finds Unlikely Allies in Arab States, August 6, 2014.)
And the article above fails to even mention who said that. (Although that may be seen in the July 29 article above.) It is astounding to imagine that while that terrible war was ongoing last year, even though the vast majority of fatalities were endured by the Palestinians of Gaza, some in PCG were being made to fear that "another Holocaust may be starting." What a bizarre and extreme speculation.
Here is what happened. On July 18, approximately 800 pro-Hamas supporters chanting venomous anti-Israel slogans marched on Calgary’s City Hall to show their support for Palestinians in the ongoing war in Gaza. According to video footage, what appears to be three or four men holding Israeli flags engaged in a discussion with some of the Palestinian supporters, who became increasingly angry. Moments later, a man from the Palestinian crowd grabbed one of the Israeli flags. When the pro-Israel man tries to grab it back, he is sucker-punched and assaulted.
A mob of approximately 100 incensed Hamas-supporters then decided to cross the street to where a family of six pro-Israel supporters had arrived approximately two minutes earlier carrying their highly inflammatory signs that read: “Keep Calm, Support Israel” and “Israel has the right to defend itself.” ...
Sacrificing Canadian national heritage to celebrate, maintain and promote the varying cultures and distinct international identities within the nation in the hope it will encourage social cohesion is folly. This policy, called multiculturalism, is doomed to fail. It is impossible for greater national unity to result from greater differences. (Robert Morley, ‘Kill the Jews’ in Canada, August 7, 2014.)
In the quote above it is seen how tensions caused by the war in Gaza is exploited to fear monger about immigrants.
What is noteworthy and of major prophetic significance is that Israel this time did not turn to a multinational force, or even to Europe in general. Lieberman’s remarks clearly show that Israel’s leaders are looking to Berlin as Europe’s leader and decision-maker and the nation they must trust and rely on. This, in some ways, is logical. Germany is obviously the clear-cut leader of Europe—the nation with the wealth, resources and geopolitical influence to get things done. The Islamists in Gaza hate America as much as they hate Israel, therefore any stipulation for U.S. inspectors in a broader peace agreement would be flatly rejected. Besides, Israel can’t be certain America would even provide such assistance. Europe, despite the frightening anti-Semitic outbursts in various European cities, is perceived to be more neutral and objective. (Brad MacDonald, Israel Calls for German Help in Solving Gaza Conflict, August 8, 2014.)
In the quote above it may be seen how the war in Gaza is exploited to insinuate that Germany will soon take over the United States' role as mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. That is viewed by PCG as a sign that the Great Tribulation will soon occur.
One of the more remarkable stories to come out of the latest Israel-Hamas war are reports of recent miracles being witnessed and experienced by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel.
Jerusalem-based news agency Israel Today translated a Hebrew account of an Iron Dome air defense operator who has reported witnessing a miracle. According to the operator’s account of the events, Israel’s air defense system Iron Dome twice failed to destroy an incoming Gaza missile that was going to kill a lot of innocent civilians until at that very last moment a major east wind pushed it into the sea. The operator assigns credit for the gusty east wind to the “hand of God.”(Timothy Oostendarp, IDF Soldiers Claim ‘Hand of God’ and ‘Clouds of Glory’ Saving Israel, August 12, 2014.)
The media outlet cited above, Israel Today, is a religious media outlet. Considering how PCG constantly demonizes Germany it is ironic that this publication was first published in German.

And while it is good that particular rocket didn't hurt anyone what about all the Israeli soldiers who died? And of course all the people of Gaza who died? What about the pain and suffering of the families and friends of all those who died and have to move on without them? One should not sanitize the terrible nature of war as in done in the story above.
A recent report from Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, revealed that while Hamas was fighting Israel from the Gaza Strip, it was simultaneously planning an elaborate and destructive takeover of the West Bank. Hamas wants control over the West Bank, and it will use any deceptive and destructive means to get it. (Hamas’s Plot to Take Over Israel’s West Bank, Trumpet Daily, August 25, 2014.)
And one year later Hamas still hasn't taken over the West Bank.
A senior Hamas official in exile admitted that Hamas’s armed wing, Qassam Brigades, was responsible for abducting and killing the three Jewish teens in June. The murders were followed by the killing of a Palestinian boy, leading to riots and triggering the ongoing war in Gaza. The founding member of Hamas’s military wing, Saleh al-Arouri, boasted of the group’s direct responsibility in the attack at a conference in Turkey organized by the World Association of Muslim Scholars on August 20. (Anthony Chibarirwe, Hamas Admits to Murdering Three Israeli Teens, August 26, 2014.)

The seven-week war between Hamas terrorists and Israel Defense Forces is now over—at least for the time being. Terrorists in Gaza launched missiles at civilians for weeks while the IDF hit Gaza with airstrikes and even a ground incursion to shut down its smuggling tunnels. It’s estimated that more than 2,100 Palestinians died, along with 70 Israelis. (Stephen Flurry, Hamas Terrorists Now More Popular in West Bank, The Trumpet Daily, September 9, 2014.)

Every Muslim around the world should arm Hamas in Gaza in its fight against Israel, Iran’s supreme leader said during a prayer ceremony on July 29. “[T]he Muslim world has a duty to arm the Palestinian nation by all means,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said. He called Israel a “rabid dog” and a “rapacious wolf” that has “attacked innocent people, and humanity must show a reaction. This is genocide, a catastrophe of historical scale.” (Worldwatch: Iran rallies Muslims against Israel, October 2014.)
In the quote above it may be seen how the war is exploited to insinuate that Iran will emerge as the king of the south. Since 1994 PCG has vilified Iran and has taught that it is fated to become the King of the South.
Mahmoud al-Zahar, the terrorist organization’s co-founder and political bureau member, assured Al-Ayyam newspaper on October 1 that his group wants to seize the West Bank and then destroy Israel.
Speaking to the Ramallah-based Palestinian newspaper at a ceremony honoring policemen killed by the Israeli military, Zahar explained: “[Some] have said Hamas wants to create an Islamic emirate in Gaza. We won’t do that, but we will build an Islamic state in Palestine, all of Palestine.”(Anthony Chiberirwe, Hamas Vows to Create an Islamic State in the West Bank, October 22, 2014.)

Most of Israel’s Jewish citizens viewed Operation Protective Edge as a just war. It was careful and precise, aimed at limiting civilian casualties as much as possible. But that goal was made far tougher by Hamas’s efforts to maximize Palestinian casualties in order to evoke global outrage against Israel.
True to Hamas’s aims, many people in the West blamed the Jews for the escalation of the Gaza War. Israel’s already poor international reputation was further trashed. A poll that summer asked Israeli Jews, “How do you feel about the famous saying ‘the whole world is against us’?” Nearly two thirds said yes, that pretty well sums up our life. (Joel Hilliker, Israel vs. the World, January 2015.)

*******

The tenor of these articles are utterly unsurprising to anyone familiar with PCG's stance on this issue. Even when admitting that about "1,650 Gazans" were killed (as may be seen in the August 6 quote above) there is in general no attempt to show sympathy towards those Palestinians who died.  It is simply assumed that one side is good and the other side is evil. PCG's dogmatic stance on this issue is strictly adhered to here.

The war in which so many died is simply used as fodder for PCG's unceasing proclamations that their prophetic dogmas are finally being unfolded before the eyes of PCG members and co-workers.The PCG leadership can't afford to let their followers focus on the times their prophecies failed. The tithes must be sent to Headquarters.

Where HIV/AIDS Actually Came From

HIV/AIDS originated from a disease named SIV that affected apes in Central Africa, namely the Central chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes troglodytes). This SIV disease developed a strain that could infect humans as well. This initial cross species infection appears to have occurred around 1921 (between 1908-1933). The initial cross species infections came from a "cut hunter" somewhere in a rural area. Other explanations appear most unlikely. The drastic social changes brought about by European colonization, such as urbanization, mass transportation via train, etc., had the effect of helping to spread this disease through Africa, and from there the world, before it was finally detected in 1981.

That is some of the information to be found in Jacques Pepin's 2011 fascinating book, The Origins of AIDS. This book is a fine work for anyone wishing to understand where this dreaded disease that has affected so many people actually came from.

The Origins of AIDS (2011)

The following BBC article also discusses similar information:
An international team of scientists say a "perfect storm" of population growth, sex and railways allowed HIV to spread.
A feat of viral archaeology was used to find the pandemic's origin, the team report in the journal Science.
They used archived samples of HIV's genetic code to trace its source, with evidence pointing to 1920s Kinshasa. ...

HIV is a mutated version of a chimpanzee virus, known as simian immunodeficiency virus, which probably made the species-jump through contact with infected blood while handling bush meat.
The virus made the jump on multiple occasions. One event led to HIV-1 subgroup O which affects tens of thousands in Cameroon.
Yet only one cross-species jump, HIV-1 subgroup M, went on to infect millions of people across every country in the world. (James Gallagher, BBC News, October 3, 2014.)
But some people seem utterly ignorant of these facts. Some seem determined to deluded themselves into believing some other explanation.

As seen in a previous post the late Ron Fraser once falsely accused sexual behavior contrary to PCG dogma in Western countries of somehow "giving birth to ... AIDS."
In general terms, to this generation all of the values, mores, honorable traditions—even documented history of past events—are held up to question. This approach to subjective analysis is fundamentally sourced at a basic and false assumption—that the theory of relativity applies not just in the arena of physical sciences. By extension it is assumed that it generally may be applied to human behavior—religion, moral standards, ethics and human values. Thus we have the concept of “moral relativity,” which spawned the “new morality” of the 1960s, giving birth to a new and uncontrollable communicable disease—AIDS. (Ron Fraser, What's Behind the Crisis in Foreign Relations?, The Philadelphia Trumpet, May 1999, p. 3.)
What sick nonsense.

The editors of the May 1999 issue of The Philadelphia Trumpet, in which this false accusation was published included Gerald Flurry, Dennis Leap, J.Tim Thompson, Vyron Wilkins, Stephen Flurry and Joel Hilliker. Why didn't any of them correct this deluded nonsense? Did they believe Fraser's nonsense?

Why didn't anyone at PCG Headquarters catch this bizarre error before publication?

If one of PCG's leaders can get something like this so horribly wrong what else are they wrong about?

To Remember What War Is Like

It is so easy to say we should go to war here or there. But do we appreciate just what is being asked of soldiers who are sent to harm's way?

One book that shows readers what modern day warfare is like now is Black Hearts by Jim Frederick. A harrowing portrayal of what happened with one platoon stationed in what was called the triangle of death in central Iraq in 2005-6.

Not Just Hamas is in Gaza

When discussing last year's war in Gaza it is often viewed as a war between the State of Israel and Hamas. But although Hamas is the dominant party in Gaza there are other political groups there as well and they also fought as well.  The recent report from the United Nations Human Rights Council about the tragic war in Gaza last year mentions this fact.
Up to ten organized armed groups, often linked to political movements of various ideologies, were active in Gaza in the summer of 2014. However, their military capacity and their level of involvement in the hostilities against the IDF varied significantly. Several of these groups not only fired rockets and mortar shells but also participated in military engagements with the IDF.

During the hostilities, the two largest and best-equipped groups, the Izz Al Din Al Qassam Brigades and Al Quds Brigades, regularly issued statements regarding attacks. Security experts have noted that while the Al Qassam Brigades may have targeted civilians in the past as part of its military strategy, in 2014 its declared official policy was “to focus on military or semi-military targets and to avoid other targets, especially civilians.”

The Al Nasser Salah Al Din Brigades, which is the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees was the third largest organized armed group operating in Gaza in 2014. The other groups with a similar type but lower level of engagement include: the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine or “PFLP”; the Gaza branch of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah’s military wing; the National Resistance Brigades; and the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP). Other, smaller armed groups are present in Gaza but it remains unclear whether they participated in the 2014 hostilities. (United Nations Human Rights Council report, paragraphs 59-61, pp. 17-18.)

Overview of September 2015 Issue of The Philadelphia Trumpet

The latest issue of PCG's recruitment magazine, The Philadelphia Trumpet (September 2015), is now out. Let us see what PCG's leaders say this time in order to get more tithe money from PCG members and co-workers.

This issue has a circulation of 284,800. Circulation is falling. Between the January 2011 issue and the April 2015 issue The Philadelphia Trumpet's circulation had always been above 300,000. (An updated list of its circulation figures may be seen in a previous post.) But now for the fourth time in a row it's circulation is lower than 300,000. (297,255 for the May-June 2015 issue. 297,242 for the July 2015 issue. 295,801 for the August 2015 issue.) This is part of a continuing decline since the December 2012 issue (341,259).

What on Earth is the PCG leadership doing wrong? What are they doing with the tithe money they get?

Gerald Flurry has an editorial article praising the victims of the terrorist attack in Charleston for forgiving the killer. However considering that Gerald Flurry teaches a false prophesy of "race war", according to which African Americans will soon launch a wave of riots against the white majority in the United States, how can one believe that he could possibly be helpful in creating peace in this matter? A related telecast was discussed in a previous post. This "race war" Flurry speaks of will never happen.

There is a "special report" on "nuclear Iran" condemning the agreement America made with Iran recently.

Gerald Flurry has an article insinuating that the agreement is just like the infamous Munich peace agreement Chamberlain made with Hitler in 1938.

Stephen Flurry has an article complaining that the agreement somehow means the Obama Administration has somehow "crowned" Iran as "King of the Middle East."

(Actually it was Gerald Flurry who "crowned" Iran as "King of the Middle East" when he dogmatically proclaimed Iran to be the future King of the South in 1994. To accuse the Obama Administration of doing what Gerald Flurry has done is merely psychological projection.)

Joel Hilliker has an article fear mongering that the agreement will change history in a bad way.

Brad MacDonald has an article in which milks the terrible suffering of those who endured nuclear destruction in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 to scare people into thinking that unless one joins PCG the same nuclear devastation will happen to them. It even includes three photos from that terrible time. To exploit the memory of those who died on those days in August 1945 in order to get people to join PCG and pay tithes is sickening and perverted. It is a desecration towards the memory of those who died.

The PCG leadership has constantly fear mongered about Iran since 1994, especially after 9/11. Consequently the PCG leadership has a strong motive to deplore and condemn any potential peace with Iran because peace between America and Iran would discredit the PCG leadership's claim to know the future.

And so ends the PCG leadership's condemnation of the agreement with Iran.

Joel Hilliker also has an article condemning the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same sex marriage.

There is a chart saying the Bible foresaw modern scientific discoveries. Many churches make the same claim. Why should this claim prove that PCG is the one true church? It is just like many others on this matter.

Stephen Flurry and Richard Palmer has an article claiming that Germany will arise as the dominant power within Europe and then conquer America and Britain. This time they exploit the current crisis regarding Greece's finances to advance this claim yet again.

Brad MacDonald also has an article fear mongering that Germany will soon arise as the dominant power in Europe. This time he recites some of the esoteric doctrines Herbert Armstrong taught to justify this false prophecy. These doctrines are ultimately derived from the Millerites of the 1830s-1840s. HWA and his imitators have constantly preached that Germany will soon conquer America since the days of World War II and it still has not happened. Because it never will. God is not with HWA or any imitators such as PCG.

Worldwatch has a few little articles.
  • One fear mongers that America and Iran are getting too friendly with each other in Iraq due to the current struggle against Abu Bakr al Baghdadi's lackeys.
  • One fear monger that Russia is slowing taking over more Georgian territory.
  • One fear mongers about a gas pipeline between Russia and Germany insinuating that this will prepare the way for Russia and Germany to ally against America.
  • One fear mongers that the world economy will collapse the next time the market crashes. So the PCG leadership admits we are recovering from what happened in 2007-8. Did they tell their readers that back then?
  • One talks of Pope Francis of calling for the creation of a one world government in order to promote the paranoid view that the Pope plots to create a powerful European superpower fated to destroy America.
  • One fear mongers that NATO is weak and this will lead to Germany taking over and refuses to follow America's lead.
  • And one fear mongers that India and Pakistan are joining an Asian security bloc thus insinuating it is somehow against America.
Societywatch has a few little articles.
  • One fear mongers that President Obama is exploiting various violent deaths by gun violence to restrict the ownership of guns. (Shouldn't the PCG leadership be more worried about people dying?)
  • One fear mongers that schools are being forced to not discipline African American students so much.
  • One condemns San Francisco's policy of being a sanctuary city letting ("non-white") illegal immigrants and accusing this policy of leading to a killing that recently occurred.
The last two little articles mentioned above expose how PCG caters mainly for white Americans because they try to scare white Americans about "non-white" peoples. PCG is for whites. It's not white only. But it is mainly for whites.

Joel Hilliker also has a little article encouraging people to ignore those who criticize them.

Joel Hilliker also has a little article talking about the recent probe that flew past Pluto.

There are letters. Here's one letter insinuating that people worried about what happened to Freddie Gray are not logical.
I have watched the Baltimore incident several times as the police were arresting Freddie Gray. I saw no evidence of mistreatment of this man as they were putting him into the vehicle. Sadly, even that documented evidence does not satisfy those who have rioted and brought charges against those officers involved. To any logical person, this should serve to show that the police were not attacking this man because he was black (especially since half the officers involved were black). Mr. Flurry has pinpointed the root cause of the atrocities we are witnessing.
Maybe they are more worried about how his spine was nearly torn in half and that he died in hospital just a few days later. Maybe they are more worried that something like that just might happen to them.

There are two letters that sound as though they are from PCG members, or at least persons heavily influenced by PCG. Here they are:
The reason why the pope is “provoking war” in Israel is because both the Vatican and Germany (which the Vatican supports) have their own selfish agendas in Israel, namely Jerusalem...
PCG has often simplistically insisted that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is about Jerusalem. This is mentioned so often and emphatically one could think that this is the only issue. In fact the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is much more complicated than that. Jerusalem is an issue in that tragic conflict, but it not the only issue.

Also PCG has constantly vilified the Pope and teach that in the near future the last Pope will become the "false prophet" able to perform miracles such as summoning fire from the sky and this "false prophet" will strengthen the rise of a European super power assumed to be uniquely influenced by Satan which will destroy America just before Christ's return. This writer is clearly heavily influenced by PCG.
The United States has cleared the way for Iran by instigating or causing regime changes in many Middle East and African nations, some of which have been unnecessary ... Made in America—how true. The U.S. has truly spent its strength in vain!
PCG has for years repeatedly complained that America has spent its strength in vain. This writer is clearly heavily influenced by PCG.

And so we see that PCG has produced yet another issue that fear mongers about all these problems thus keeping PCG members distracted from the problems within PCG and not wondering why the magazine's circulation is still going down, lower than it was in 2003, despite all the money given to PCG and controlled by the PCG leadership.

Was Jesus Like a Settler in the West Bank?

Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren, who was mentioned in a previous post, recently made a speech comparing Jesus to a settler in the West Bank.
Kulanu MK Michael Oren, a former ambassador to the US, said that former American presidents John Adams and Abraham Lincoln thought it was their duty as good Americans and good Christians to help Jews return to the land of Israel. He recalled how a Christian Congressmen from West Texas opened a Bible and asked him how much funding Israel required for the Iron Dome missile defense system.

"US-Israel relations go back to spiritual ties," Oren said. "God speaks only one language and it's the language in which we are yelling at each other in the next hall. Jesus, Mary, and John the Baptist would today be considered Jewish settlers in Bethlehem. We are on a holy mission to ensure the Jewish state remains strong and beloved." (Gil Hoffman, "Oren: Jesus today would be a settler", Jerusalem Post, July 22, 2015.)
What an anachronism.

In Jesus' day there were no settlers. At the time the people who lived there were Jewish. There were no Jewish settlers in those days.

To me this statement indicates that he doesn't really believe the settlers have a right to live in the West Bank. Why else would he make such a factually false statement? Why say Jesus was like a settler when there were no settlers back then? This is a false equivalence.

Many within Israel are not impressed with this statement. One Israeli columnist, Bradley Burston, responded to the anachronistic statement with these words.
Where would you look for such a man [as Jesus today]? ...

These days, you might expect to find him in Susya. Not the Jewish settlement founded in the '80s, but the much, much older Palestinian village. The Palestinian village whose people have been evicted from their homes, stripped of their lands, physically assaulted by settler youths, and forced to resettle in a place where they are now under imminent threat of wholesale house demolition and mass expulsion by the dictates of settler leaders to the occupation officials who serve them.

You would expect to find him in the Palestinian village of Susya because Jesus was not a Jewish settler. He was a rabbi for human rights. (Bradley Burston, "No, Jesus was not a Jewish settler. He was a rabbi for human rights", Haaretz, July 27, 2015.)
Jesus was not a settler. Back then there were no Jewish settlers as there are now in the West Bank. It is a false equivalence to say that about Jesus. It is anachronistic to say Jesus was like a settler since there were none back then.

There is already enough misunderstandings already. We don't need another one.

Remembering Hiroshima

On this day seventy years ago, by order of President Harry S. Truman, the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima killing thousands of people.

Some of the victims were American prisoners of war.

Many of the victims were children who had nothing to do with the Japanese government's war.

Tragically just before the Enola Gay flew over Hiroshima another American plane flew over Hiroshima, the warning sirens went off and many people fled for shelter. But nothing happened. And the people went back into the open. If that first plane had dropped the atomic bomb the death toll would have been lower than what it was.

Soon afterwards the Enola Gay flew over. There was no warning siren. And it happened.

One particularly harrowing account of that day may be seen in episode four of Days That Shook the World produced by the BBC.

Without question the policies of militarism pursued by the Japanese government up to that day caused innumerable miseries and horrors for many people. Many innocent people were killed by the forces of the Japanese government in that terrible war. Many atrocities were committed by those who served the militaristic regime based in Japan of that time.

But we must face the facts. Many of those who died that day were innocent. Not least the children who died that day.

Some Japanese people opposed the war. Some of those who opposed the war died in that explosion.

A few days later another atomic bomb was detonated on Nagasaki. Historically Nagasaki was the center of Christianity within Japan.

These explosions inflicted severe suffering. It was a most frightening thing for the people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The pain and suffering this caused is beyond comprehension.

And now let us consider how this affected Armstrongism.

HWA and his imitators milked the harrowing suffering of those who endured this to scare people into joining their little groups.

HWA and his imitators threaten that unless you join their little group you will endure what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

HWA and his imitators do so to this day.

They do so even though nothing like that has even happened.

What a desecration of this harrowing event. To exploit the pain and suffering of those who were there in Hiroshima and Nagasaki to scare people into joining a COG group and to get the three tithes is deeply immoral and shameless.

How dare they.

Tragedy at Living Youth Camp

Banned by HWA has reported that on August 2 a staff member of Living Youth Camp, namely Morgan Montgomery of Adelaide, Australia, tragically died in a water skiing accident.

What a terrible tragedy. It is very sad that this has occurred. My deepest sympathy go to her family and friends.
