PCG Quoting Ma'an News Agency

Here is PCG quoting from Ma'an News Agency, a Palestinian media outlet based in Bethlehem. PCG quoted Ma'an News Agency in thirteen articles including some written by Stephen Flurry, Brad MacDonald, Ron Fraser, Joel Hilliker and Richard Palmer. Three articles in 2007. Two articles in 2008. Six articles in 2009. Once in 2010. And once in 2016. Three times links are provided to Ma'an News Agency articles in PCG's writings.

Unsurprisingly PCG's writers only quote Ma'an News Agency to reinforce PCG's dogmas regarding their false prophecies concerning the Holy Land. There is a lot of information provided by Ma'an News Agency which contradicts PCG's view regarding events in the Holy Land or present perspectives that contradict PCG's views. This shows once again PCG's bias regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Already, the Palestinian minister of information, Riad Maliki, told the Ma’an News Agency that now that he had “succeeded in returning part of them,” the Palestinian government will pursue negotiations with the Israeli government to return another 18,000 Palestinian refugees from Iraq. On September 30, more than 80 Palestinians, including terrorists wanted by Israel, crossed into the Gaza Strip from Egypt, according to Hamas and Israeli officials. The Palestinian news agency Maan reported that Egypt allowed 30 or so more Palestinians through the Rafah crossing into the Gaza Strip October 9.
The Palestinians who have crossed the Egypt-Gaza border in the past two weeks include members of the military wings of both Hamas and the terrorist group Islamic Jihad, as well as two Hamas legislators. Security sources say that some have received extensive military training in Iran and Syria. Some of the other terrorists had been abroad seeking medical treatment after fighting in the second intifada, according to Maan. In an interview with the Palestinian-operated Ma’an News Agency on September 20, Ahmed Yousef, who advises Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, said Hamas was engaged in secret discussions with Abbas’s Fatah movement aimed at reconciling the differences between the two estranged parties. A few weeks later, Ma’an reported that 25 Fatah leaders in the West Bank and in Gaza wanted to “hold talks with Hamas to end the current impasse” (October 16). A few Middle Eastern news sites, however, reported the story as it happened. According to the Palestinian news agency Ma’an,

Egyptian riot police used water cannons and clubs to suppress a surging crowd of demonstrators. … A number of women lost consciousness in the ensuing violence. The security forces arrested the women, using dogs to break up the crowd. …
Crowds of women gathered at Rafah crossing on Tuesday morning in a demonstration organized by Change and Reform, the Hamas bloc in the Palestinian Legislative Council. (Stephen Flurry, Another Hamas Victory in the Propaganda War, January 25, 2008.)

 The Palestinian news agency Ma’an reports Mughrabi was a member of Hamas. Israeli police said he had no criminal record, and there is nothing to indicate this attack was pre-planned. Mughrabi was not a known terrorist. But, filled with Hamas’s explosive ideologies, he was a time bomb waiting to explode. All it took was the right catalyst, which in this case was his cousin rejecting his hand in marriage, and he quickly became an enraged terrorist prepared to use Israeli soldiers and citizens as an outlet for his anger. On Wednesday night, according to Ma’an News Agency, a Fatah parliamentarian and an aide to Mahmoud Abbas met with a Hamas delegation in Cairo to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction, the politically motivated arrests and torturous tactics employed by both factions, the Palestinian media incitement and the outcome of the Israeli election. These talks were held in advance of a more comprehensive dialogue to be held between both parties later this month. Memri reported that both sides have already agreed to stop the media war. Fatah and Hamas to Unify? 

Fatah and Hamas leaders have reached “an agreement in principle” that will lead to joint leadership of the Palestinian Authority, according to the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency. They plan to form a joint government until elections take place. The two terrorist groups also agreed to a prisoner exchange between them.
Representatives from Hamas and Fatah met in Cairo to end the two years of disunity within the Palestinian Authority. The two groups also agreed to stop all media attacks against each other, according to an aide to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The next day, a spokesman from Hamas’s military wing delivered a prophetically electrifying response to Israel’s efforts to defend itself against illegal Arab intrusions. Hamas official Abu Ubayda “threatened Israel of an ‘explosion’ if it continues to consolidate control of Jerusalem,” the Ma’an News Agency reported. Ubayda also warned that “the Judaization of Jerusalem and threat to the iconic al-Aqsa Mosque could provoke reprisals.”

The next day, a spokesman from Hamas’s military wing, Abu Ubayda, “threatened Israel of an ‘explosion’ if it continues to consolidate control of Jerusalem,” the Maan News Agency reported. Watch for tensions between Jews and Palestinians in Jerusalem to increase. (The Week in Review, April 18, 2009.)

Fatah’s relationship with Iran was also on the congress’s agenda. A draft leaked before the conference stated, “We must work toward opening a strategic channel to Iran.” In July, the Palestinian Authority and Iran held their first-ever high-level meeting. Fatah’s Jerusalem affairs liaison openly called for a stronger relationship with Iran three days before the Fatah conference in comments to Ma’an News Agency. “‘President Mahmoud Abbas attended the funeral, reciting passages of the Koran in [Amin] Al-Hindi’s honor,’ the Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported. It quoted top Fatah official Zakariah Al-Agha as calling Al-Hindi a ‘patriotic leader’ and a ‘martyr.’ ‘Fatah sources said Al-Hindi was given the homage befitting a hero both in the West Bank and Gaza, said the Gulf News of Dubai’” (cnsnews.com, August 20). In al-Sabireen, Iran has found a group willing to wipe out the “Zionist entity” and replace it with an Islamist empire. Its leader told Palestinian news agency Ma’an that the group is “an armed branch whose goal it is to wage war on the Israeli occupation everywhere.”(WorldWatch, April 2016.)

Israel's Arms Exports to China

Back in November 2015 the Israeli peace activist Jeff Halper released an informative book discussing the State of Israel's involvement in the global arms industry. Halper mentions many fascinating topics including Israel's arms trade with China which is discussed in Chapter 2.

India and China, which until the 1990s did not even have diplomatic ties with Israel, are now among its chief trading partners, particularly in the military and security sectors. (Jeff Halper, War Against the People, 2015, Introduction.)

In Chapter 2 Halper discusses Israel's arms exports to China including how the US cancelled Israel's sale of "Phalcon airborne warning and and control systems (AWACS)" to China for $250 million in 2000 and that Israel's Lavi fighter jet was the prototype for China's J-10 fighter jet.

Israel, said one US official, became a "back door to US technology that the United States won't sell [the Chinese]," while China looked to Israel for the arms and technology it could acquire from neither the United States nor Russia. ...

[Israel] has manged to remain China's second largest arms trading partner (following Russia). China is also Israel's second top export destination after the United States and the largest in Asia. In 2013, trade with China amounted to $11 billion, as Israel supplied it with radar systems, optical and telecommunications equipment, drones, flight simulators and other weapons systems and technologies, plus upgrades in target acquisition and fire control that enhance the capabilities of the older guided missile destroyers and frigates and technology it cannot acquire from either the United States or Russia. Would the COGs would ever mention such things to their followers? Many seem to enjoy scare mongering about China. This includes PCG and LCG as may be seen in this 2000 article by Douglas Winnail.

Halper notes that the State of Israel exports arms to many countries all over the world including the United States, European countries, India, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, etc. It is not just about China.

Learning things like this can be saddening but we must give no place to hatred.

New Trumpet Recruitment Issue Coming Out

Joel Hilliker has posted the cover for the next issue of PCG's recruitment magazine. Based on the headlines written on the cover there will be articles in the next issue.

Condemning President Obama as some sort of modern day "king." Considering that they teach that there should be "one-man rule" within PCG it seems strange that such a group would oppose authoritarianism. PCG leans far to the right so they do not want a President from the Democratic Party.

An article insinuating that Merkel will lose power to be replaced by zu Guttenburg.

Scare mongering about the Black Lives Matter movement. Possibly this article will allude to PCG's false prophecy of "race war," the racist accusation that African Americans will soon launch a wave of riots against the white majority. PCG has consistently taught this racist false prophecy since 1992.

An article about the Pope. Armstrongism teaches that the Pope will be a vital role in creating the European Empire fated to conquer the United States.

An article telling people to stop looking at a computer screen so often.

An article about obesity.

More of the same in other words.

How WCG Responded to the Sabra and Shatilla Massacre

Authoritarian religious groups tend to teach their followers to view matters in a simplistic black and white manner. This is good. This is bad. If one can teach people to view matters in this way it is easier to manipulate them. The COGs tend to take this approach with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One side is good One side is bad. And if information comes to light that contradicts that viewpoint the contrary information is minimized or denied. This may be seen in how WCG reacted to the Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982.

From the evening of September 16 till the morning of September 18, 1982 Falangist militiamen committed a sustained massacre in the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila and massacred up to thousands of defenseless Palestinians. The massacre lasted for about 36 hours. While this occurred Israeli personnel were stationed outside Sabra and Shatila.

WCG's immediate response to this terrible massacre may be seen in the September 20, 1982 issue of the Pastor General's Report.

World public opinion, especially that of Europe, is solidly lining up against Israel in its deepening involvement in Lebanon. No matter what Israel does it seems to turn out wrong. The smoke is still clearing from the weekend massacre of Palestinian residents of two urban camps in West Beirut. Israel has been indirectly implicated in the blood-letting for permitting Falangist militiamen into the camps in search of P.L.O. guerrillas. The Falangists instead went berserk killing everyone they saw, including women, children and the elderly. (p. 10.)

Did the Falangists go berserk? The massacre lasted for 36 hours. That is not a sign of uncontrollable rage but indicates an organized and determined effort that was followed through for 36 hours. The Falangists entered Sabra and Shatila and chose to commit the acts of massacre for 36 hours.

In an attempt to minimize the horror of what happened at Sabra and Shatila WCG's article then stated that the murderers did it in revenge for the assassination of Bashir Gemayel and it is insinuated -- without any evidence -- that Arafat might have been behind the assassination.

The rightist militiamen were seeking revenge for the shocking murder, on Tuesday September 14, of Lebanon's President-elect Bashir Gemayel and over a score of his top aides. Significantly, P.L.O. Chairman Yasser Arafat did not claim responsibility for the dastardly act. He couldn't, surely, for he was about to embark on another mission to Europe to shore up his role as a legitimate statesman. (p. 10.)

WCG's author presents no evidence whatsoever to support that accusation that Arafat had anything to do with that assassination.

Contrary to that accusation a man connected with a pro-Syrian party, the SSNP, was arrested for the assassination.

The article proceeds to scare monger about Yasser Arafat meeting with Pope John Paul II.

On September 15 Arafat topped off an earlier red carpet welcome in Greece with a real jewel for his black-and-white head-dress: a 20-minute private audience with Pope John Paul II in Rome. The reception understandably unleashed a storm of protest in Jerusalem. 

After the meeting, the Vatican released a communique saying John Paul chose to meet Arafat because of the Pope's "constant preoccupation to foster the difficult peace process in the Middle East." The communique added that by granting the audience the Pope "demonstrated his benevolence towards the Palestinian people. ..expressing the wish that an equitable and lasting solution be reached as soon as possible to the Middle East conflict which would, excluding recourse to armed violence in any form and above all to terrorism and vengeance, lead to the recognition of the rights of all people and in particular to those of the Palestinians to a homeland of their own--and of Israel to her security." (Emphasis ours.) (p. 10.)

Just imagine: All these Palestinian civilians (who are viewed as non-white by the COGs' leaders) had just been massacred and WCG's leaders were scare mongering about Yasser Arafat meeting with Pope John Paul II.

An interview made by journalist Oriana Fallaci with Ariel Sharon is then presented in WCG's article with the stated intention of making Sharon look good and Arafat and the Palestinians look bad. The interview was published on August 30, 1982.

Here are a few key excerpts of an interview with Israel's Defense Minister Ariel Sharon conducted by the famous razor-sharp Italian interviewer, Oriana Fallaci, printed in the August 30, 1982 TIMES of London. The interview gives quite an insight into the character not only of Sharon but of the P.L.O. and its "messenger of peace," Arafat. (p. 11.)

So whoever placed this interview thought this would show Israel's Defense Minister Ariel Sharon in a good light and prove that Arafat and the Palestinians deserve to be hated and scorned as WCG's leaders taught. Here is one excerpt.

FALLACI: ... Why did you go on with that massacre even when they had agreed to leave? And why when the agreement had been reached, on August 11, thanks to Habib, did you order the most ferocious bombing of all, 12 endless hours that caused almost 600 dead?

SHARON: Because Arafat continued to play, to trick, to lie. Because he made a joke of us, that liar. You can never trust him, you can never trust them. They live on shrewdness and they always betray their word, their agreements. Even during the expulsion they did. They had agreed to give their names, for instance, instead they haven't. They had agreed not to board jeeps and trucks, instead they tried to. On August 11 they still demanded that we withdrew from Beirut, to be substituted by the international forces, So I bombed them, yes....But it worked. The following night...they bent to our conditions. And I stopped. (p. 12.)

Note that Sharon never bothered to deny or question Fallaci's statement that many people were killed by the bombardment of August 11, 1982. He justified the deadly bombardment to force Palestinians to give names and not use jeeps and trucks while leaving Beirut.

WCG's writer even underlined parts of Sharon's response seemingly failing to analyze the implication of Sharon's words.

When things happen that contradict our view of the world we should investigate such matters. But in this instance WCG's leaders chose to insist that their view of the matter was still correct. They did not view Palestinians as white like themselves so their lives are not valued equally by WCG's leaders at the time.

Mark Armstrong Insinuates Syrians Refugees are Not Refugees

In Mark Armstrong's latest weekly rant (April 1, 2016) he insinuates that the refugees from Syria are not really refugees and baselessly vilifies them as potential terrorists. (In this section he also quotes from a website connected to an organization which is a part of what some have called the Islamophobia Network.)

Just to review, the administration continues to demand that the United States accept and support tens of thousands of "refugees" from Syria and other terror-ridden Middle Eastern countries. Middle Eastern Muslims who are here illegally will be allowed to stay indefinitely and presumably be given a "path to citizenship," being lumped in with poor Hispanic immigrants "just looking for work in order to support their families."

Since 2011 Syria has been the scene of a cataclysmic war provoked by the Assad regime's brutal and deadly repression of an initially peaceful protest movement. The extreme violence that is now the lot of so many Syrians continue to this day. Even though there is now a cessation of hostilities in place there is still a lot of violence being committed.

There are reports that a few days ago in Eastern Ghouta near Damascus the Assad regime's bombardment against a rebel held urban area killed about 30 people, a death toll similar to that recently experienced in ISIL's recent terrorist attack in Brussels.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights 174 civilians were killed in Syria despite the cessation of hostilities coming into force on February 27, 2016.

And most of the killing is being committed by the Assad regime and those fighting to prop it up.

PCG's Changes Trumpet Weekly

Ever since PCG started their weekly recruitment publication, The Trumpet Weekly, back in late 2007 it always features quotations from various news outlets. But starting with the March 26, 2016 issue they have altered how it excerpts articles.

Before the Trumpet Weekly simply presented articles from various news outlets and prominently displayed where the article came from. This way of excerpting articles has been removed.

Instead PCG's writers use their own writing to summarize what various news outlets happen to say. This has the effect of obscuring the sources of the excerpted articles they chose to cite. It also allows PCG's writers to more directly manage what The Trumpet Weekly says to their readers.

The March 19, 2016 issue contains excerpts of articles from The Jerusalem Post, Bloomburg Business, Agence France Presse, Telegraph, German-Foreign-Policy.com, Carnegie Europe, LifeSiteNews, Gulf News, Nikkei Aslan Review, The Washington Post, Independent Online, Daily Beast and The Wall Street Journal. These articles are quoted without any attempt to place them in articles written by PCG's writers.

This changes with the March 26, 2016 issue. It contains excerpts of articles from New York Times, Telegraph and Agence France-Presse. From page 4 onward all the articles have been rewritten by PCG's writers and their sources have been placed within articles written by PCG's writers.

With the April 2, 2016 issue then transition seems to be complete. All articles in the issue are either excerpts of PCG's articles or summaries of other articles.

Israeli Protesters Defending Soldier who Shot Defenseless Palestinian

Here is a report from David Sheen and Dan Cohen about a right wing protest defending an IDF soldier who shot a neutralized Palestinian. Includes interviews with one man who said Palestinians are not human. Another man said each Arab deserved a bullet. Some also blamed leftists.

Mark Armstrong Rants About Refugees Trying to Destroy Western Civilization

Mark Armstrong has another rant posted as his weekly update (March 25, 2016) like those previously mentioned on Ambassador Watch. This time he insinuates that refugees heading into Europe are trying to take over Europe.

The pope's favored "poor immigrants" are succeeding with their intention to inject fear into the hearts of westerners, having blown up the crowded ticketing lobby at one of Europe's busiest airline hubs. How sorry do you think Europeans are feeling for the plight of the million Muslims that streamed into their midst over the past year now?

At present there is no evidence that ISIL's sympathizers in Brussels have any refugees with them. This is a terrible slur upon the refugees who are fleeing into Europe.

The existence of "no-go zones," or "sensitive urban zones" as they prefer to call them, is now well documented.

Wrong. The myth of "no-go-zones" is complete nonsense.

That is where the unassimilated Muslims of various origin stew in their religious hatreds and plot the destruction of the very society that took them in. Their "dream," as one of the captured terrorists told police after his arrest, is to live under an Islamic caliphate in Europe. Can you imagine western streets under the patrol of masked ISIS enforcers? That's the Islamic "dream," and not just for those willing to get their hands dirty or strap on an explosive vest. Even the "good Muslims" share that "dream."

After all, their "holy text" is shot through with instructions about killing Christians and Jews, cutting the necks of infidels and numerous similar passages.

Reading this rant I was reminded of a vile chapter written in 1868 by the anti-Semitic author Hermann Goedsche entitled "The Jewish Cemetery in Prague and the Council of Representatives of the Twelve Tribes of Israel." That chapter describes a fictional meeting of Jews with Satan the Devil engaged in a conspiracy to take over the world. It is a vile piece of anti-Semitic writing that was later used by personnel within the Russian secret service to concoct The Protocols of the Elders of Zion as exposed in the 1921 book, The History of a Lie by Herman Bernstein.

Let it also be remembered that one common trope of anti-Semitism was to cite certain words from the writings of Judaism and manipulate these words to slur Jews in general and cast them in a bad light.

Goedsche targeted Jews. Armstrong targets Muslims. But the hostility seems eerily similar.

Mark Armstrong then seem to indulge in sexism as well by describing an Argentinian woman as "leggy".

If you saw him [President Obama] doing the 'wave' at the Cuban baseball stadium with Raul Castro, the ruthless communist dictator, or dancing the Tango with the leggy Argentine lady....

Mark Armstrong ends this rant by scare mongering that these Muslim refugees will cause "the destruction of western civilization". What does that even mean?

Much to our chagrin, the destruction of western civilization is under way and our leadership is aiding and abetting the trend through their devotion to everything and everybody that is against our traditions, our foundational history and our God-inspired Constitution. May God help us save the United States from the depths of ignominy and destruction. It's looking too late for Europe.

This is a common trope of Islamophobia, the idea that the immigration of Muslims into Europe and North America will somehow cause these Muslims immigrants to take over these societies. This is just rank scare mongering.

Also there seems to be no sympathy for the people enduring the ongoing war in Syria provoked by the Assad regime's brutal repression of an initially peaceful protest movement. Recently there was one report that about 30 people were killed by Assad regime bombardment against a rebel held area near Damascus.

So we see that Mark Armstrong has made another rant to his followers. His followers are ill served with such talk.

The Power of Nostalgia

It seems one reason why the COGs continue to function is because some members nostalgically remember what WCG was like when HWA was alive and WCG was far larger and more powerful than is the case for any of the COGs today. Evidence for this may be seen in some of the comments posted in response to Joel Hilliker's August 3, 2011 article, A Warm Friend of Israel. (The article was later turned into a booklet which was discussed in a previous post.)

I was able to shake Mr. Armstrong’s hand two times in my life and I’m very grateful. What heart a 90+ year old man had to stand for literally hours to shake everyone’s hand, young, old, lame or otherwise. Sometimes I wonder just how much of the dig is bringing up “inner” and “outer” courts that will parallel the spiritual connotations that are involved so deeply within our teachings. Thank you so much for the beautiful memories Mr. Hilliker.

To paraphrase Black Ops Mikey, HWA's WCG is gone and it is never coming back. It is good to live life today instead of yearning to go back to a situation that is now no more.

COG-FF's Publishes Condemnation of Interracial Marriage

Ambassador Watch commented about Church of God-Faithful Flock's recruitment magazine, The Philadelphia Remnant. COG-FF is led by Don Billingsley.

The following words are from a 1957 article by HWA and may be found on page 3 of this magazine.

America is falling victim today to the Communist propaganda of MIXING THE RACES, contrary to God's com­mands! God Himself scattered the races at the tower of Babel. God decreed they shall remain SEGREGATED until the end of this world, and the coming of Christ. 

Communism stands for amal­gamation of the races, until there will be but one race again. They disseminate this propa­ganda among the Negroes of America. Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt has fallen under this delusion, and other public leaders have started a trend in America which makes segrega­tion, which GOD COMMANDS, appear to be sinful and evil, and which makes a mixing of races, which GOD CON­DEMNS, appear to be Christian and good! This has nothing to do with race superiority or racial DISCRIMINATION. God condemns racial discrimina­tion, but COMMANDS racial segregation. There's a vast difference! Today people con­ fuse the two as though they were the same!

What terrible, racist, McCarthyite propaganda. And COG-FF chooses to publish these words today in their magazine? How disgraceful.
