My mother sincerely decided that she wanted to become a member of the Worldwide Church of God and in order to become a member at that time which was back in about 1955 she was required to leave my father. And at the age of ten I lost my father to the Worldwide Church of God.This shocking testimony comes from a Christian based anti-cult documentary entitled The Cult Explosion, narrated by Walter Martin, author of Kingdom of the Cults. The documentary seems to date from the early 1980s. The section which first describes Herbert W. Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God starts here.
She spent hours on her knees crying and praying in order for God to give her the strength to do this. She had been married to my father for twelve years and they had a happy marriage.
Shortly after that she married the youngest brother of Herbert Armstrong, Dwight Armstrong.
This draconian policy of divorce and remarriage was in force within HWA's WCG until 1974.
Roderick C. Meredith was one of the men who carried out and orchestrated this most abominable practice. This may be seen in Roderick C. Meredith's 1969 letter to WCG ministers on how to enforce this most wicked practice. He was one of the last to insist that this practice had to be carried out.
What a shocking testimony. How dare anyone claim that HWA is worthy of being followed. How dare anyone minimize these atrocities by saying "it was reformed" as though the victims have no right to speak out about what has happened.
Just appalling. There are no words to describe how awful this is. It is just shocking.
The marriage bed is defiled.
ReplyDeleteMinisters have full rights to supplant God in a marriage and freely interfere with marital partners.
As long as you remember that they are ministers of Satan.
