Roderick Meredith Admits "the World' Pays No Attention to the COGs

Banned by HWA recently discussed an article by Roderick Meredith in which he complained that the COGs are unknown in the world outside of the COGs themselves.

All of the little groups that have clung to at least part of the Truth are literally unknown to 99 percent (or more!) of the world’s population! Most of you realize this. If you go around your neighborhood you find virtually no one who has heard of the Living Church of God or any of the other groups that are trying to do God’s Work today. This needs to change! And to think Meredith constantly boasted that Global COG and then LCG was on the verge of exploding onto world attention. Look at what Meredith wrote way back in 1994.

8. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God Preached to All Nations....

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation” (v. 9). The coming Great Tribulation is going to affect the Church as well as national Israel. “And [they will] kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” This verse is quite significant because it says, in effect, that God’s true Church and Work will be known by all nations. People won’t hate it unless they know about it, will they? They are going to hate the true Work of God because they will hate its message. But in the recent above at the start Meredith admits the truth: LCG and the other COG groups are obscure and "the world" does not even notice them unless they or a loved one or a friend comes under their influence.

Elsewhere in the January-February article Meredith tries to make his followers feel sorry for him.

When I first began this present Work back in 1992, I was a little embarrassed to ask for money.

Even though he has enjoyed the benefits of members' tithes for so many decades he expects us to feel sorry for him while he lived off of our money.
